    Lockdown Cooking at Home – La Madonna’s Togarashi Walnuts

    Spice up your lockdown life! Here’s how to make our infamous Togarashi Walnuts…

    What Ingredients You’ll Need

    • Walnuts 2kg
    • Water 2750ml
    • Sugar 4kg
    • Shichimi Togarashi 80g
    • Smoked Paprika 80g
    • Salt 60g

    How to Make

    1. Boil water with half of the sugar, then add nuts
    2. Simmer for 12 mins
    3. Drain nuts and reserve liquid
    4. Add remaining sugar to liquid and bring back to the boil
    5. Add nuts and simmer for 12 mins
    6. Drain and place in a large bowl
    7. Mix through the togarashi, paprika and salt
    8. Place on lined baking trays and bake at 100C for approx. 2-2.5hrs until fully dry
